Martin Haaseth
Einar "Martin" Haaseth, 95, a one-year resident of Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Kris-Leigh Assisted Living in Davidsonville, died of natural causes Aug. 21 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He previously resided in Chester as well as Cape Coral, Fla., and Pontiac, Mich.
Born July 20, 1909, in Veblungnes, Norway, Mr. Haaseth immigrated to the United States in 1928 and became a citizen in 1939.
He was employed at General Motors in Pontiac where he received his journeyman card and was a certified tool and die maker until retiring.
During World War II he worked for Lockheed Aircraft in California, building tool and die parts for the P-38 airplane.
He was a member of the Oakland County Sailing Club in Pontiac and Sons of Norway and Norwegian Seamans Church in New Orleans.
Among his interests were sailing, boatbuilding and woodworking.
Surviving are one son, John Martin Haaseth of Sautee, Ga.; one daughter, Constance Marie "Connie" Christensen of Tracys Landing; two brothers, Kaare Haaseth of Walled Lake, Mich., and Jon Haaseth of Tonsberg, Norway; one sister, Hanna Misund of Vestnes, Norway; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at Sparks Griffin Funeral Home, Pontiac, with burial in Perry Mount Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Rausch Funeral Home in Owings.
